Doug Wagner of ModernFab shares the deck space with me between our offices. We've been tossing around ideas for months on how to incorporate a "green wall" or vertical garden in this space. As I'm not much of a gardner, I thought air plants would be the easiest to care for since I definitely do not have a green thumb. Doug designed the metal/cable system to tie in with the deck/stair railing. Happy with our collaboration!

A place for guests to place their robes as they're showering - more space for towels, etc. Rather than driving to town to shop for something, I hit the stash...the ever-growing pile of items that I just might use someday...for something.

A friend of mine used to work for a cabinet company. She gave me a number of door and drawer fronts that (for whatever reason) didn't quite meet muster. I used one as a board for my project...a place to mount three mismatched door knobs to use as the hooks.

Perfect for what I had in mind...and it didn't cost me a thing!

Last night, at a meeting at an audio visual company, a question was asked about invisible speakers. The owner gave a fairly lengthly answer about the pros and cons of the sound quality of these items. In reality, the main thing I cared about (as well as the designer who asked the question in the first place) was how they looked. In other words, how would the appearance of these impact the overall design. How invisible was invisible?

I like learning about new products. It's one of the reasons I'm involved in the High Desert Design Council. (The HDDC is a non-profit business league supporting the Central Oregon design community by providing educational, promotional and professional events.) All a part of learning....more.

I've recently become an avid user of Pinterest. One of the roles of an interior designer is finding great product for their clients. This site is literal eye candy for a designer. A great way to find new product and keep it organized in one place. Check it out - let me know what you think.

This accent wall is made using salvaged expanded aluminum, with a salvaged, perforated aluminum tray on which is hanging an art piece by Manley Metal Works.

(SkimStone is a hybridized portland cement which is tough and durable, and can be made up in unique designer colors.)

I like the concept of using what you have and making it better. Bye-bye formica, hello gorgeous!
